As Los Angeles County tackles a massive recovery from the devastating wildfires, our title team is striving to provide the best service and support possible to you and your clients.

Patrick Frasier, president of our Title and Escrow West Coast operations recently spoke with The Title Report on how we have been navigating these challenging times. “Our teams have been handling this as well as we could ever expect,” Frasier said. “All hands on deck is an understatement. We’ve been monitoring and keeping in touch with each of our employees in the impacted areas daily. The team created and shared a spreadsheet listing employees who have been displaced from their homes and where they’re located to ensure that everyone has a place to stay.”

When dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster, flexibility and patience become qualities that are of the highest value, and we appreciate your cooperation. We’ve also taken advantage of technology, enabling our teams to continue to facilitate closings.

“As an Anywhere Real Estate company, we have access to remote online notarization services through a partnership with a security platform called Proof,” Frasier said. “Reliable technology solutions are obviously vital in these situations. Ideally, these services will become more mainstream in the future.”

The road to full recovery for the wildfire-devasted areas will be a long-term process. If you are interested in supporting our team members who were displaced or have lost their homes, consider contributing to the Anywhere Disaster Relief Fund.

Tips for Working in Impacted Areas

Here are some practical day-to-day tips, if you’re currently working within one of the areas impacted by the wildfires.

1. Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest news and updates about the wildfires and affected areas. This will help you provide accurate information to your clients.
2. Leverage Technology: Utilize remote online notarization and virtual meeting tools to continue closing deals and communicating with clients, even if you or they are displaced.
3. Prioritize Safety: Ensure the safety of yourself, your clients, and your colleagues. Avoid areas that are under evacuation orders or heavily impacted by the fires.
4. Support Your Community: Offer assistance to colleagues and clients who may have been affected by the wildfires. This could include helping them find temporary housing or providing resources for recovery. For anyone wishing to support victims of the wildfires, you can donate here to ensure your contribution goes directly to employees at our company in need.
5. Maintain Communication: Keep in regular contact with your clients to reassure them and provide updates on their transactions. Clear and consistent communication is key during times of crisis.
6. Be Flexible: Understand that timelines may need to be adjusted due to the ongoing situation. Be prepared to adapt and work with clients to find solutions that meet their needs.

Frasier’s message to his colleagues and clients is one of unity and perseverance. “We are fortunate in that, as an organization, our people are all safe. I hope the same can be said for others,” he said. “We have a long road ahead of us. There is no quick fix when it comes to catastrophic events. We will get through this together and we will learn from this. We must lean on each other and support each other inside and outside of our industry as we rebuild.”
